Gettin leid.

It has been a little while, but I have been a busy lady! My hubby is turning 25 on May 21st, so I have decided to throw him a Birthday Luau in our back yard! He's seems to be prettyexcited, and so am I! I've ordered leis, Hibiscus straws, flower hair clips for the ladies, and an inflatable plam tree that doubles as a cooler, all from http://www.orientaltrading.com/, for an aweswome price! I'm a 100% bargain shopper ;) Dustin picked up a few tiki torches from Wal-Mart, along with two mini table top torches from Target. I haven't been able to look atanything else, but I do recall seeing some really cute tiki man cups at a local Dollar Tree, so I might be able to find some other goodies there as well! I was thinking about making a pineapple upside-down cake to fit the theme, but then I remembered the ladies from http://www.sweetstackscakes.com/ that made my beautiful weddng cake. They make amazing cakes for any occasion, and I'd love to see what they'd have in mind for a luau! Of course, I'm trying to spend close to nothing for this party. I guess i'll just wait and see what I end up spending on everything else. I'll still have to spend quite a bit on the pineapple-ham kabobs I'm planning on making, not to mention drinks...and a birthday gift.........sigh. Anyway, it should be fun and I'm so looking forward to it!

Tanzi blowing bubbles!

My hubby and I are also very excited about our beach trip in June! He was laid off of his job for 7 months before our wedding, so we didn't get to take honeymoon. We could barely afford our wedding! This is a very long awaited trip for the both of us. Since this will be our "honeymoon", we won't be taking Tanzi to the beach with us this year. I think she may be a little too young for a long road trip like that. I don't think any of us would make it there sane! haha It definitely won't be the same without her though. I can hardly make it one full day without her! I hate to think I will ever miss out on anything she does. She learn new and funny things everyday at this age. It's easy to miss one thing! I will probably take on a couple special small trips this summer to make it up to her :)

  1. Aww that is such a sweet and creative idea!! And I used to browse Oriental Trading as a kid all the time b/c my mom had a subsctiption haha. We would order Easter goodies and X-mas goodies from there. I am such a bargain hunter too so I totally understand. It's so hard to spend a lot on something when you can find comparable for cheaper! I think even if I became rich one day I would still be so frugal. Hehe it must be so fun to snap pics of Tanzi! She is so adorable!!

  2. I remember browsing the catalogs too, along with Fingerthut. My mom always ordered from there. I'll have to start ordering some of their crafts as Tanzi gets older!

I do especally hate when I realize I overspent on something, so I'm very picky when it comes to purchasing anything!

I LOVE taking pictures of Tanzi! I've always got my camera ready!

  3. Your daughter's soo adorable! Reminds me of my niece as she was getting older. I recently moved away from home, and it's been really hard for me not being there to see her grow up. Can't believe it's almost been 4 years!

Congrats on your marriage! You guys are super cute newlyweds. & I'm sure Tanzi is going to grow up and be as beautiful as her momma! :)
